Day 1: Arbaminch Arrival – Dorze Village
Fly from Addis Ababa to Arbaminch in the morning. Then drive to Dorze Village. The Dorze people are renowned for their weaving skills, music, dance, and beautiful elephant-shaped houses. They live in one of the most densely populated areas of the country, but the Dorze have maintained a lifestyle that coexists with the environment by practicing mixed farming, handicrafts, and weaving. After enjoying time with the Dorze people, drive back to Arbaminch.

Day 2: Arbaminch – Turmi
Drive to Turmi via Konso Village. Konso is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its traditional landscape terracing systems, wonderful walled villages, old community squares, stone monuments, generation poles, and carved statues. Konso has an immensely rich historical heritage and a traditional village atmosphere. Continue driving, crossing the Weito River—home to the Tsemay and Bena tribes—to arrive in Turmi.

Day 3: Turmi – Omorate
After breakfast, drive to Omorate, home to the Dassanech tribe, located on the border with Kenya along the Omo River and north of Lake Turkana. Cross the Omo River and visit their mobile village. Afterward, drive back to Turmi for lunch, then continue to Jinka. On the way, you may have the chance to attend the bull jumping ceremony (a Hamer boy’s rite of passage), visit a Hamer village, or explore the tribal market in Turmi on market day.

Day 4: Turmi – Karo Tribe Visit
In the morning, after breakfast, drive to Korcho, one of the villages of the Karo people. The Karo (Kara) call themselves “fish eaters” and are most famous for their artistic body painting. After visiting the village, return to Turmi for lunch. Later, you may visit a Hamer market, attend a bull jumping ceremony, or explore a Hamer village.

Day 5: Turmi – Jinka
In the morning, drive to Jinka, where you will stay overnight. Jinka is home to the Ari people. Although the Ari are more modern, they are the largest ethnic group in the Omo Valley and still maintain traditional village life. On the way, if it is market day, you may stop at Dimeka, Key Afer, or other small tribal markets, where you may encounter the Bena, Hamer, and Tsemay tribes.

Day 6: Fly to Addis Ababa
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Mursi Village, crossing Mago National Park. The Mursi tribe is one of the most well-known in Ethiopia due to the large lip plates worn by Mursi women, which have become an iconic image of the Omo Valley. After spending time with the Mursi people, return to Jinka for lunch and transfer to the airport. Fly to Addis Ababa.

Day 7: Addis Ababa – Mekele – Danakil Depression
Early in the morning, take a flight to Mekele. Meet your driver outside the airport terminal and join a group tour heading to the Danakil Depression, one of the most unique geological destinations in the world.
Drive from Mekele to Dodom, enjoying scenic landscapes along the way. Upon arrival at Dodom Base Camp, prepare for an evening trek (about 30 minutes) to Erta Ale Volcano, known for its permanent lava lake. Enjoy the spectacular views of lava flows and volcanic activity, then return to base camp.

Day 8: Erta Ale – Hamadela
Wake up early and walk to the volcano to view the sunrise over the lava lake. Return to Dodom, then drive to Hamadela (approximately 100 km). Along the way, you may see camel caravans, traditional salt mining, and enjoy a beautiful sunset at Lake Assale.

Day 9: Hamadela – Dallol – Mekele – Addis Ababa
In the morning, depart for Dallol, the lowest point in Africa (225 meters below sea level). Explore the colorful hydrothermal landscapes, often compared to Mars or the Moon. Walking through these surreal formations feels like being on another planet.
After the visit, drive back to Mekele and fly to Addis Ababa.
