Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa – Jinka

Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka. Upon arrival, meet our team and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Today you will visit the villages of the Ari tribe. These villages are surrounded by lush countryside, offering a striking contrast to other parts of the Omo Valley tribal region. Walk through farmlands and village paths, visit craftsmen, and observe the daily life of the Ari people. If it is a market day, visit the local market.

Day 2: Jinka – Mursi – Turmi

Drive through Mago National Park to meet the Mursi tribe. The Mursi are known as fearless warriors and are widely recognized for the women’s iconic lip plates. The larger the lip plate, the more beautiful a Mursi woman is considered. Upon arrival, walk through the village and observe the traditional huts of different families. Experience their daily lifestyle and take photos with tribal members.

Afterward, continue to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe. The Hamer people live in small villages and rely on herding and agriculture, maintaining a traditional lifestyle. They are famous for their spectacular women’s hairstyles and the important initiation ceremony known as “bull jumping”, a key rite of passage into adulthood.

Day 3: Turmi – Omorate

In the morning, drive to Omorate to visit the Dasenech tribe, who live along the Omo River. Cross the river using a traditional boat to reach their village. The Dasenech are pastoralists who depend heavily on cattle and goats, especially during the dry season when crops are scarce. Livestock represents wealth and is also used as bride price. They also have a history of inter-tribal conflicts linked to cattle raids.

In the afternoon, drive back to Turmi. If it is Monday, visit the vibrant Turmi tribal market.

Day 4: Turmi – Karo

In the morning, drive to Korcho village, home of the Karo tribe, located on a cliff overlooking the scenic Omo River. The Karo live in huts made of sticks with thatched roofs. They are especially known for their artistic body painting, using natural colored clay. They are often considered the finest body painters among the Omo Valley tribes.

Later, visit a Hamer village and possibly join a family hut for traditional coffee. In the afternoon, visit the Turmi local market, where different tribes gather to trade goods. Enjoy a local drink afterward.

Day 5: Turmi – Arbaminch (via Konso)

After breakfast, drive to Arbaminch via Konso. En route, visit the Konso villages, located on hilltops and fortified by stone walls. The Konso are known for their remarkable soil conservation and terraced farming systems. The Konso Cultural Landscape is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through narrow village paths designed for traditional security systems before continuing to Arbaminch.

Day 6: Arbaminch – Dorze – Fly to Addis Ababa

In the morning, drive to the Dorze village, home of some of the finest weavers in Ethiopia. The Dorze produce high-quality handmade cotton fabrics, including traditional Shemma clothing, a long-standing cultural craft passed down through generations. These garments are worn during weddings, festivals, funerals, and special ceremonies.

Walk through green farmlands and see the famous elephant-shaped Dorze houses. Learn how they prepare food from the false banana plant and enjoy traditional music and dance. After the visit, transfer to Arbaminch Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa.

Day 7: Addis Ababa – Gondar – Simien Mountains National Park

After breakfast, drive from Gondar to Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO-listed natural heritage site. Stop in Debark (2,800 m) to obtain permits, guides, scouts, and equipment before entering the park. Continue into the mountains above 3,000 meters, where acclimatization is important.

Begin a short 2–3 hour trek to Sankaber Campsite (3,200 m), with stunning views of valleys, mountain ranges, and endemic gelada baboons. Arrive at Sankaber.

Day 8: Trek Sankaber – Geech

After breakfast, begin trekking through heather forests covered in moss and lichen. From Sankaber (3,200 m), trek to Geech (3,600 m) (2–3 hours). Along the way, visit the seasonal Jinbar Waterfall / viewpoint, a dramatic 500-meter drop (often dry in the dry season). You may also spot the rare lammergeyer (bearded vulture).

Enjoy a picnic lunch before continuing along scenic mountain trails to Geech.

Day 9: Trek Geech – Chenek

Early morning departure from Geech for a full-day trek to Chenek (3,600 m) (7–8 hours). This route offers one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Simien Mountains. Stop at Imet Gogo (3,926 m) for 360-degree panoramic views of valleys, cliffs, and mountains.

Continue to Innateye (4,070 m) viewpoint before descending toward Chenek. Chenek is one of the best places to see the endemic Walia ibex and the rare Ethiopian wolf.

Day 10: Trek Chenek – Buahit Ras – Gondar

Early morning trek from Chenek toward Buahit Ras (approx. 4,200 m). This climb offers chances to see Walia ibex again and panoramic views of Ras Dashen (4,543 m), the highest peak in Ethiopia.

Return to Chenek for pickup and drive back to Gondar, passing through the scenic landscapes of the national park.
