Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa – Jinka

Fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka. Upon arrival, meet our team and transfer to your hotel for check-in. Today, you will visit the villages of the Ari tribe. These settlements are surrounded by lush countryside, offering a sharp contrast to other parts of the Omo Valley. Walk through farmlands, visit local craftsmen, and observe the daily life of the Ari people. If it is a market day, we will explore the local exchange. Overnight: Jinka

Day 2: Jinka – Mago National Park – Turmi

Drive through Mago National Park to meet the Mursi. Known as fearless warriors, the Mursi are famous for the women’s iconic lip plates; the larger the plate, the more beautiful the woman is considered. Walk through the village to see traditional huts and experience their unique lifestyle. Afterward, drive to Turmi via Jinka. Turmi is the heart of the Hamer tribe, a pastoralist group famous for their spectacular hairstyles and the “bull jumping” rite of passage—a crucial cultural event in the life of a Hamer family. Day 3: Turmi – Omorate – Dasenech Tribe

In the morning, drive to Omorate to visit the Dasenech tribe along the banks of the Omo River. We will cross the river in a traditional boat to reach their village. The Dasenech are resilient pastoralists who rely on cattle and goats for status and survival. In the afternoon, return to Turmi. If it is Monday, we will attend the vibrant tribal market, where various ethnic groups gather to trade. Overnight: Turmi

Day 4: Turmi – Karo Tribe (Korcho)

Drive to Korcho, a village of the Karo tribe set on a scenic cliff overlooking the Omo River. The Karo are masters of artistic body painting, using natural clay soils to create intricate designs. Later, walk through a Hamer village and perhaps join a family for traditional coffee. In the afternoon, visit the local market in Turmi to witness tribal commerce and enjoy a local drink. Day 5: Turmi – Konso – Arbaminch

After breakfast, drive to Arbaminch via Konso. Meet the Konso people in their fortified hilltop villages, protected by ancient stone walls. Day 6: Arbaminch – Dorze – Fly to Addis Ababa

Drive to the highland village of the Dorze people, considered the finest weavers in Ethiopia. Observe the “Shemane” tradition of hand-making cotton cloth used for weddings and funerals. Visit their unique elephant-shaped houses, learn how they process food from the false banana tree, and enjoy traditional music.
