Day 1: Mekelle – Danakil Depression – Erta Ale Volcano
Early morning flight to Mekelle or pick-up from your hotel. Meet your guide and join a group heading to the Danakil Depression, one of the hottest places on Earth. Drive through dramatic changing landscapes from the highlands to the Afar lowlands, reaching Dodom, the base of Erta Ale. Begin a 3-hour trek across volcanic terrain to Erta Ale Volcano, famous for its permanent lava lake. In the evening, enjoy a spectacular view of the glowing crater and active lava flows under the stars—one of the highlights of Ethiopia volcano tours.

Day 2: Erta Ale – Hamad Ela
Early morning descent from Erta Ale back to Dodom, then continue driving to Hamad Ela (approx. 100 km). Along the way, you will see traditional camel caravans crossing the desert. Enjoy a beautiful sunset over Lake Assale, one of the most iconic views in the Danakil region.

Day 3: Hamad Ela – Dallol – Mekelle – Addis Ababa
Morning drive to Ragad (Asebo) to visit traditional salt mining activities. Continue to Dallol, where you will explore one of the most surreal landscapes on Earth, formed by intense volcanic activity—an area that feels like Mars or the Moon.
Drive back to Mekelle and fly to Addis Ababa.

Morning flight to Dire Dawa. Upon arrival, meet your driver and continue to Harar.
